The BBC TV Series Doctor Who is filmed in Cardiff and the new Doctor Who Experience is an interactive attraction which is based on the characters and events depicted in the show. The experience includes specially recorded sequences from the current Doctor Who. Your visit starts with an interactive show with special effects which takes you on a journey through time and involves some of the Doctor’s friends and foes like Daleks, Cybermen and Sontarans. Afterwards you will see the world’s largest collection of original Dr Who props, costumes and artefacts some from the recent TV shows, but some also dating back to the 1960s. This is an extract from our free Cardiff City Guide.
This experience replaces a Doctor Who Exhibition which was based up the road at the shopping centre in Cardiff Bay. Some of the props and costumes from that museum are included in the new attraction, but there are many more in the new facility which is much, much larger.
The Doctor Who Experience has timed tickets to avoid a backlog and if you book in advance, you will need to select a one hour time slot in which to visit. Booking details can be found via the Dr Experience link towards the bottom of the page. The attraction opens daily from 10am to 5pm in school holidays but closes on Tuesdays during term time. Last entry is at 3.30pm. Adult admission is £13 in advance or £15 on the door with discounts for children available and family tickets too.
