The Disney complex at Anaheim, California now includes two theme parks and a Downtown Disney shopping and dining area. The original park, Disneyland Park, is still the biggest draw and although it’s much smaller then the other Disney parks around the world, it has that sense of history when you visit. It was opened in 1955 and although it’s evolved over the years, the essence of the original park is still here. The castle is tiny, but attractions inside include all the familiar rides and a busy Main Street USA.
Rides and experiences at Disneyland Park cover all ages and include roller-coasters like the Thunder Mountain Railroad and Hyperspace Mountain, water rides like Splash Mountain and more sedate experiences like the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. Next door to the original park is a new park called Disney’s California Adventure which is based around everything that California has to offer including movie studios.
Attractions here include an area which resembles Santa Monica Pier called Paradise Pier. Here you’ll find the California Screamin’ roller-coaster, Ariel’s Undersea Adventure and Mickey’s Fun Wheel (pictured below). Elsewhere in the park you’ll find Hollywood Land with attractions like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Cars Land, Grizzly Peak and A Bugs Land. You can ride from one land to another on the red car trolley.
Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure Park are open daily from 8am, with some tickets allowing early access. Disneyland Park closes at midnight and Disney’s California Adventure closes at 10pm. Adult admission starts at $95 for one day (2016 prices), but multiple day tickets are also available. If you need transport from a hotel, or just want to avoid the parking fee, latest prices are available here:
