Fremont Street

Las Vegas Fremont Street USA Flag

The Fremont Street Experience is the heart of the old ‘Downtown’ area of Las Vegas. It’s here that you’ll find the heritage hotels that the success of Las Vegas was originally built upon, like the Golden Nugget. However, as visitors moved up the strip to the new resorts, the ‘downtown’ area needed something new. What they did, was close off Fremont Street and cover it with a huge roof on which light and picture shows are shown.

Each picture show is usually different to the one before and you can see which shows are scheduled each day on the official website (link below). The roof is made up of 12.5 million LEDs which according to the organisers makes it “the biggest big screen on the planet”! In addition, it’s common to find live entertainment on Fremont Street like bands, singers and magic shows. The “Viva Vision” light show is free and occurs every hour on the hour from 6pm till 11pm. Additional entertainment in the pedestrianised area is also common on two stages for live music.

Another attraction downtown is the Las Vegas Neon Museum. Look around Fremont Street and you’ll find some of the old neon signs of the past dotted around as exhibits.
